ANTM eliminee Matthew talks about Kelly’s ‘quick temper’

This week on America’s Next Top Model, it was time to say goodbye to Matthew. SheKnows chatted with the eliminee, who seemed about as unconcerned as we were.

Let’s face it: ANTM‘s Matthew is hot as hell. We haven’t seen the last of him. So, while we’re sad that we can no longer watch Willthew’s love story unfold, we’re not too concerned about the judges’ decision to cut Matthew. Even he seemed cool with moving on.

SheKnows: What surprised you most while watching this week’s episode?

Matthew Smith: In this week’s episode, I was most surprised when I was eliminated. My memory may be skewed but I don’t ever remember being eliminated!

SK: What was going through your head when the “Dream Crusher” was screaming at everyone?

MS: I honestly paid no attention to Kelly yelling at everyone. And throw in that it was her clothing line, it was in the heat of the moment when people often make mistakes, and the fact that Kelly is quick-tempered and forward to begin with — it seemed like her losing her shit for a second seemed pretty natural. I will tell you, however: there is no doubt in my mind Raelia, Will and I were the best team.

SK: How did you feel about your acting during this episode?

MS: I’m not sure what you mean by my “acting” this episode. I don’t act. What you see is what you get. It makes life easier to just be true to yourself at all times.

SK: How were things in the house when you left?

MS: I’m not sure how things in the house were when I left. I wasn’t in the house so I wouldn’t know.

SK: What’s one thing viewers didn’t see that happened behind the scenes that you’ll never forget/that you wished they would have aired on the show?

MS: I’m actually incredibly impressed with ANTM and how well they cover everything. Obviously, a lot happens in a week and it is hard to cover it all in a 45-minute window. However, I can tell you that what you are watching is 100 percent accurate and was completely organic. I am really hoping for a reunion episode with myself and the cast mates. Each and every one of them is so incredibly unique and awesome in their own way. I consider myself blessed to have met them and am even more blessed to be able to call them all friends.

SK: Are you surprised you got eliminated? What would you have done differently?

MS: I wouldn’t change anything I did during my time in the competition. I stayed true to who I am, and in that way I consider my time to have been a complete victory.

SK: Who on the show will you continue to keep in touch with and why?

MS: I stay in touch with just about all of the cast mates. Each of our dynamics is very unique; however, they are all equally as meaningful to me. I look up to Keith a lot; he is a great dude with a lot of knowledge. Kari is a wonderful, creative, beautiful woman who I admire. Ben is a goof and I love him. Will is a strong, driven and admirable human who I care about dearly. Adam is in the top 1 percent of partiers, and I can vouch for that. Ivy is my little hummingbird. Lenox is one of the most loving people ever. Denzel is probably the funniest dude I have ever met. Shei has super swag. Raelia is amazing in every way, but mostly I love her because she can take my shit. Mirjana is a little spicy but she always means well (she’s sort of like a little sister to me now). Chantelle and I have a huge mutual respect for one another that I truly value a lot.

This was all the short version, but like I said, I love each and every one of them. I consider my newfound friendship with each of them the real prize from Cycle 21.
