If you happened to miss it, this unique musical collaboration occurred on the Late Show with David Letterman and kicked off Foo Fighters’ weeklong stint on the show.

It’s baby No. 5 and finally a son for Zac Brown

Although the Zac Brown Band and Foo Fighters may seem like an odd couple, the pairing didn’t come completely out of left field — recently, the band released a four-song EP titled The Grohl Sessions: Volume One, on which Grohl lent his production skills and even played drums on a few tracks.

“They’re unbelievable,” Grohl told Rolling Stone of working with the country group. “The band is so good they can be tracked live. We didn’t f*** with computers — we tracked live, four-part harmonies around one microphone. It’s rocking. People are like, ‘Oh, it’s country.’ ‘No, it’s not; it’s like the Allman Brothers.’ ‘No, it’s not. It’s jam band.’ I don’t even know what you would call it. It’s f***ing great.”

But back to Zac. For die-hard fans, it will come as no surprise that the Zac Brown Band front man was able to slay this iconic Black Sabbath song.

From the haunting piano-drenched ballad “Colder Weather” and the Van Morrison-inspired “Free” to the island-tinged “Toes,” Brown has proven he’s got depth and range in spades. Should he decide to release a full-length rock album in the future, we’ll gladly take that ride with him.

For now, we’ll crank up this stellar cover (look how much fun they’re having!) and revel in just how right the world feels when Zac is rocking out alongside Dave Grohl.

Plus, he’s looking pretty fine in that Johnny Cash-ish ensemble. It had to be said.
