Fatherhood wasn’t exactly planned for Simon Cowell, but he seemed to embrace it with arms wide open. When his son, Eric, was born, Cowell admitted he was “born to be a dad.”

However, months later, it looks like Cowell is ready for Eric to grow up. He told Hello! magazine, “I’m going to be honest — I’m not exactly a hands-on dad. I want to fast forward a few years so I can take him go-karting and then introduce him to women.”
However, Cowell still sees himself as a great dad and he is happy he is able to do whatever his son needs. According to People, he explained that becoming a dad at 55 may be the best time to do it.
“I’m probably in a far better position to be a father now than I would have been 10 years ago,” Cowell added. “That’s the way I’d look at it. And at the end of the day we have really great nannies that are bloody amazing, so I don’t have to worry.”
The former X Factor and American Idol judge seems to have a new focus in life and he said he would consider having more kids in the future. Although he and baby mama, Lauren Silverman, aren’t married, Cowell said he has considered it.

“I’ve never said ‘no’ to marriage, but then again, I couldn’t imagine having a kid at one point and now look at me.”
And with George Clooney now off the market, Cowell said he is “the only iconic bachelor left in the entire world — thanks for that, George Clooney!”
