Amy Poehler‘s new memoir, Yes, Please, dishes on all aspects of her life, from her divorce from Will Arnett to a chapter dedicated to her experimentation with drugs, titled, “Obligatory Drug Stories.”
Amy Poehler finally gets frank on Will Arnett divorce
The Parks and Recreation star wrote about her past experiences with drugs in her new memoir, via an expert from British newspaper The Mirror, in which she explained, “I tried cocaine, which I instantly loved but eventually hated. Cocaine is terrific if you want to hang out with people you don’t know very well and play Ping-Pong all night.”
However, “it’s bad for almost everything else… the day after cocaine is rough,” she added.
But it wasn’t just cocaine that the Saturday Night Live alum tried; she also recalled one New Year’s Eve party when she took ecstasy with her Upright Citizens Brigade friends. She went on to explain that it was a night when they all “danced and drank water and loved each other.”

But the morning after, the drug had lost its appeal. Poehler said, “I also remember the next day when I thought I had no friends and I was so sad I wanted to sink into the carpet and permanently live there.”
However, the mom of two has since said goodbye to her wild side in favor of being a responsible parent.
“The next day is the thing I can’t pull off anymore,” she admits. “How do you explain to a 4- and 6-year-old that you can’t play Rescue Bots because you have to spend all day in bed eating Cape Cod potato chips and watching The Bicycle Thief?”
