What mystery illness took Elisabeth Hasselbeck off the air?

She’s down, but not out. On Wednesday, it was announced that Elisabeth Hasselbeck underwent an unexpected surgery. The big mystery is what ailment she is suffering from.

On Fox & Friends, cohost, Steve Doocy, announced, “In case you were wondering where Elisabeth is today and this week, well, she had some surgery yesterday and she’s going to be out for a couple of weeks. But, she’s doing just fine, she’s on the mend.”

Her other cohost, Brian Kilmeade, talked about the former Survivor contestant’s strength.

He said, “She is strong, she is tough and a better athlete than me. We heard from her last night and she said she is feeling good. So, in a short time, she’ll be back on the set.”

Everyone was rather vague on what the illness was and what type of surgery she had. The Wrap spoke with a Fox News spokesperson who kept that mysterious theme going. They shared very little, stating, “Elisabeth has asked for all to respect her wishes for privacy in regards to further details at this time.”

Filling in for Hasselbeck during her medical leave is The Five host, Kimberly Guilfoyle.

The former View host has not tweeted since Oct. 10 and she was last on Instagram on Oct. 6. It is unclear whether the surgery was scheduled or if it was an emergency, since her absence was not announced ahead of time.

Hasselbeck, who is known for her outspoken political and religious views, is keeping her mouth shut while she heals.

Get well soon, Elisabeth!
