X Factor star calls out Taylor Swift: Stop writing about Harry Styles

When Taylor Swift‘s album, Red, came out in 2012, her songs about her exes were already getting pretty old. The singer promised her new album, 1989, would be more about friendship than exes, but with her second single, she’s proven that isn’t exactly the case.

Taylor Swift won’t be singing any songs about heartache anytime soon

“Out of the Woods” is a song that is likely about an ex, and it sounds like it could very possibly be about Harry Styles.

British X Factor star, Olly Murs, has a few choice words about Swift’s songwriting style and especially about her relationship with Harry Styles, which ended years ago.

“Come on [Taylor], let it go. Write something new that isn’t about Harry,” said Olly Murs, according to the Mirror. “Bless him, it’s been like two years and he’s still getting lashed out isn’t he?”

To be fair, the song could also be about a few of Swift’s friendships. However, it likely is Styles since he and Swift actually dated twice — which fits with the song. But Swift has a track record of writing about former beaus — including John Mayer, Taylor Lautner, Jake Gyllenhaal and even Harry Styles.

She recently talked about the second single from her new album and what it means to her.

“The song is about fragility and kind of breakable nature of some relationships. This was a relationship where I was kind of living day to day, wondering where it was going, if it was going to go anywhere, if it was going to end the next day,” she explained in a YouTube interview. “It was a relationship where you kind of never feel like you’re standing on a solid ground. And that kind of feeling brings on excitement, but also extreme anxiety and kind of a frantic feeling of wondering. Endless questions.”

For his part, Harry Styles has yet to comment on the song.
