Bryan Cranston tweets anger over Breaking Bad toy protest, sort of

It’s been a minute since we’ve heard from Bryan Cranston in the Twitterverse, but the recent protest over Breaking Bad action figures has the actor firing back.

Breaking Bad finale: Celebrities react

Of course, he’s firing back with humor and some much-needed sarcasm.

Cranston is referencing Susan Schrivjer’s protest over Toys”R”Us selling action figures of Breaking Bad‘s meth-dealing characters. The toys each even come with a sack of cash and a bag of meth, according to Time.

While Schrivjer, the Florida mom who started a petition to have the action figures removed from the kids’ toy store, says she loves the series, she doesn’t think the dolls are appropriate for children.

“I thought it was a great show!” she told Fort Myers news station Fox4Now. “It was riveting.”

Though the figures of Walter White and Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) are advertised for children 15 and over, Schrivjer still thinks they have no business being sold in Toys”R”Us. The Walter White doll has a lab coat and comes with two beakers and a gas mask. The Jesse Pinkman figure sports chili pepper and a mask and is wearing a hazmat suit.

“Knowing those are the items one needs to make meth, I just think it’s wrong,” she also told the news station.

“Kids mimic their action figures, if you will,” Schrivjer continues. “Do you want your child in an orange jumpsuit?”

Schrivjer, under the name Susan Myers, posted a petition at Change.org.

Cranston wasn’t the only one to comment on Schrivjer’s protest. Toys”R”Us has also already responded, saying, “The products you reference are carried in very limited quantities and the product packaging clearly notes that the items are intended for ages 15 and up. Items from this TV series are located in the adult action figure area of our stores.”

Do you think the Breaking Bad action figures are appropriate merchandise for Toys”R”Us to carry?
