Taylor Swift wants Selena Gomez to find some smarter friends

Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez have had their ups and downs, but it looks like their friendship will last beyond boys and drama. Gomez showed up on The Talk to talk about the closeness the two still have — and how Swift helps Gomez be the best person she can be.

Selena Gomez puts her grown-up bullies on blast: What have you accomplished?

“She was actually at my house the other day and we were sitting by the fire and I was talking about relationships and business in my life and she just kind of looked at me and was like, ‘Selena, if you’re the smartest person in the room, I think you’re going to be in the wrong room,'” Gomez explained, according to E! News. “She thinks I should constantly surround myself with people who are going to make me better, that are going to challenge and motive me.”

“It kind of stuck to me,” Gomez added. “I want to surround myself with those people.”

Swift and Gomez have both been through their own ups and downs — Swift with boys and Gomez with her on-again, off-again relationship with Justin Bieber, as well as a trip to rehab — but it looks like they’ve been there for each other through it all.

“She supports me and never judges me for anything,” Gomez said.

Taylor Swift recently made the move to New York — as evidenced by her new song — and has apparently been begging Gomez to move with her. But Gomez is happier where she is now, with no plans to move.

“She bought her house in LA two years ago and I loved it,” she explained. “Sure enough, I finally get my own home and she moves to New York. She thinks I fit in personality-wise more there and I can understand that, but I love my home and I’m going to stick to that for awhile.”
