X-Men director Bryan Singer made headlines for some less-than-desirable reasons earlier this year, but it looks as though he’s putting the rape allegations behind him and starting a new chapter in his life: fatherhood.
Judge allows Bryan Singer rape accuser to drop lawsuit
According to E! News, the Jack the Giant Slayer director is expecting a baby with his BFF Michelle Clunie.
“I can confirm that Michelle Clunie and Bryan Singer are happily expecting a baby together in early 2015,” Singer’s rep Simon Halls revealed to the publication. “Best friends for 25 years, mother and father are both very excited about the upcoming birth and look forward to coparenting the child together. The pair have [sic] been planning this baby for years and have been trying for the last two.”
It was first suspected that Clunie was just the surrogate for her bestie, but that is clearly not the case because according to TMZ, she will be listed as the mom on the birth certificate.
Director Bryan Singer speaks out about rape charges
Contrary to earlier reports, there will be no money exchanging hands between Singer and the actress, best known for her roles as Melanie Marcus on Showtime’s Queer as Folk, because, we repeat, she is not the surrogate but the baby mama.
However, the gossip site has reported that Singer will cover Clunie’s living expenses and that he has purchased a home for her and his unborn child “just doors down from his West Hollywood home.”
Nicholas Hoult spills the beans on Jack the Giant Slayer
Singer’s plans to start a family came before he was accused just months ago of molesting a teenage boy, Michael Egan, in the late 1990s. The lawsuit has since been dropped and the director slammed the claims as “outrageous, vicious and completely false,” according to the New York Daily News.
