Demi Lovato gets real about Taylor Swift’s dating history

Demi Lovato has been through a lot in her life, experience that has given her the wisdom a 22-year-old might not normally have. Lovato may be a recovering addict, but she doesn’t let that define her. She is first and foremost a strong woman and a good friend — and she says her new mission is “inspiring everybody to be honest.”

Lovato opened up to ET Canada, who made the mistake of asking her what she thought about her friend, Taylor Swift, singing about ex-boyfriends.

“Don’t f*** with me if you’re going to say women suck,” Lovato responded, adding that Swift is “one of the few people I’ve maintained a friendship with in this industry.”

Lovato now seems happy with her life. She is happily dating actor, Wilder Valderrama, and even got engaged — to a 5-year-old on stage — last week!

But for Lovato, life to her is about so much more than living in the past. She said her message now is about “inspiring women and inspiring everybody to be honest.” That honesty has helped others with their own lives, since Lovato has become very open about her past addictions and body image issues. And through years of healing, she is finally learning who she is — and also who she wants to surround herself with.

“One lesson to learn is that you have to be able to tell the difference between yes people and no people,” she explained. “If people are handing you drugs, do they really care about you? That’s what I had to learn the hard way.

“You have to realize your worth is so much more than putting s*** up your nose.”
