Here Comes Honey Boo Boo has been canceled by TLC after rumors of Mama June dating a man convicted of child molestation.
Just when you didn’t think it was possible for TLC’s reality TV show to go any lower, it has. According to TMZ, Honey Boo Boo’s mother, June “Mama June” Shannon, has started seeing a new man who happens to have been convicted of child molestation. Not only that, but the victim in question is one of Mama June’s relatives.
When the news first broke, TLC addressed it immediately. Entertainment Weekly reported that a representative from the network gave a statement about the controversy.
“TLC is not currently in production on Here Comes Honey Boo Boo. We are very concerned about this new information and are reassessing the future of the series.”

Now the network has decided to cancel the show and has issued another statement, as reported by Entertainment Weekly.
“TLC has canceled the series Here Comes Honey Boo Boo and ended all activities around the series, effective immediately. Supporting the health and welfare of these remarkable children is our only priority. TLC is faithfully committed to the children’s ongoing comfort and well-being.”

As for Mama June, she posted a video on her daughter’s Facebook page to address the rumors and denied any connection to Mark McDaniel, who was convicted of aggravated child molestation in 2004.
“The statement of me dating a sex offender is totally untrue,” she said in the video, adding that her daughter (Honey Boo Boo’s older sister) and McDaniel’s son have both stated that she was not dating him. She went on to say that she hadn’t seen McDaniel in 10 years and her relationship with him was in the past.
“I would not ever, ever, ever put my kids in danger. I love my kids too much,” she said.
