As quickly as this romance heated up, the flames were doused. On Monday, E! News reported that Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Martin have gone their separate ways.
The duo did their best to keep their budding relationship out of the press. They began dating in late June after Lawrence had broken up with her on-again, off-again boyfriend Nicholas Hoult. Martin was dealing with his own “conscious uncoupling” with his wife of 10 years, Gwyneth Paltrow.

While the entertainment site gave no reason for the split, People magazine confirmed who initiated the breakup.
Their source said, “Jen is the one who broke it off with Chris.”
The end of the romance shouldn’t come as a huge surprise, though, because there were several factors working against them. One of the possible reasons is the fact that both had to deal with the emotions behind ending long-term relationships. While a rebound romance is fun, it can be tough to deal with the aftermath of divorce or a breakup once reality sets in.
There is also a considerable age difference between the two. The Hunger Games star is 24 years old while the Coldplay singer is 37 years old. Having a 13-year gap in age can definitely pose challenges since they are at different stages of their lives.
There is also the ex-factor. While Hoult has maintained his distance, Martin shares two kids with Paltrow. Their friendly relationship post-split has caused many to question whether reconciliation is in order. The Iron Man 3 star even caressed her ex-husband’s face after having dinner together last week. Are they just affectionate or is it something more?
Finally, the two stars have very big careers. JLaw has The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 opening on Nov. 21. while Martin has the latest Coldplay album, Ghost Stories Live 2014, dropping on Nov. 24. It can be challenging to find private time together when their jobs demand so much attention.
7 Other older men Jennifer Lawrence can crush on
For anyone who is lining up to date the Oscar winner, she revealed what she is looking for in a man in the November issue of Vanity Fair. She said, “I’d rather have just a peaceful time. [Those relationships] are deeper because you can be your true self with somebody and somebody can be their true self with you.”
The line is already around the corner.
