Keanu Reeves really wants to be a superhero

Keanu Reeves has played many characters, but not as many as he’d wanted. The star has revealed there were at least a few roles in his career he wasn’t able to play.

“I always wanted to play Wolverine,” Reeves said, according to the Hollywood Reporter. “But I didn’t get that. And they have a great Wolverine now.”

But Hugh Jackman’s role isn’t the only one he missed out on — and the other one wasn’t even in the same universe. According to Moviefone, Reeves said he’d wished he had been selected as Batman at one point.

“I always wanted to play The Dark Knight,” Reeves said. “But I didn’t get that one. They’ve had some great Batmans. So now I’m just enjoying them as an audience.”

Reeves didn’t explain which incarnation of Batman he had hoped to play, but Ben Affleck is the latest to win the role of the Dark Knight. Hugh Jackman has played Wolverine for more than 14 years — most recently in X-Men: Days of Futures Past — so Reeves’ agony has apparently surpassed at least a decade.
