Julia Roberts is downright gorgeous, and at 47 years old she remains one of the few Hollywood stars who have not given in to the pressures of going under the knife.
Why August: Osage County‘s Meryl Streep & Julia Roberts are Hollywood’s dream team
The August: Osage County actress has chosen to age gracefully, but Hollywood is not always kind to women in the industry who have passed a certain age. During an interview with You magazine via The Guardian to promote her beauty contract with Lancôme, the actress spoke about how not having cosmetic surgery was actually a career gamble.
“By Hollywood standards, I guess I’ve already taken a big risk in not having had a face-lift,” Roberts explained to the publication.
“But I’ve told Lancôme that I want to be an aging model — so they have to keep me for at least five more years until I’m over 50,” the actress said about her role as the face of the brand’s perfume La vie est belle.
There is no denying that Roberts is exceptional-looking, but she claims that that is down to her lifestyle.
“It’s about non-grasping, non-hoarding, cleaning out your closet, dusting out your mind and letting go of the things that weigh you down mentally and emotionally,” she revealed. “There’s a lightness to my life now — an airy quality of not taking things too seriously. That’s happiness.”
Julia Roberts plans to be George Clooney’s new marital advisor
Roberts comments about happiness are very similar to those of Renée Zellweger’s, which she recently made to People magazine, addressing the backlash about her new looks.
Social media was in a frenzy after Zellweger stepped out at the Elle Women in Hollywood party last week, sporting a brand-new look that left her virtually unrecognizable, although she insisted that she’s “glad folks think I look different! I’m living a different, happy, more fulfilling life, and I’m thrilled that perhaps it shows.”
Perhaps it’s time to note just how neurotic about aging the Hollywood industry is making women.
