Kevin Spacey and others remember House of Cards‘ Elizabeth Norment

Actress Elizabeth Norment, who is best known for playing Frank’s loyal secretary Nancy Kaufberger in House of Cards, is dead at age 61.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Norment’s sister said the actress died on Oct. 13 at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, though no other details have been released regarding the cause of death as of now.

House of Cards creator Beau Willimon said, “Everyone at House of Cards is deeply saddened by Elizabeth’s passing. She was a talented actress, a warm soul and a good friend to us all.”

House of Cards star Kevin Spacey also commented on his sadness over the actress’s death on Tuesday via Twitter.


Other colleagues and friends also took to social media to pay homage to the actress.


Norment received her master’s degree from the Yale School of Drama and then went on to join Robert Brustein’s American Repertory Theater. She was a founding member, also according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Aside from her role in House of Cards, Norment appeared in many television shows throughout her career, including Blue Bloods, Law & Order and ER. She was also in movies like Runaway and The Woman in Red.

Executives at MRC, the production company behind House of Cards, said in a statement, “Elizabeth Norment was a talented actress with a beautiful spirit who touched the entire House of Cards family.”
