Horror television is taking over Fall 2015 TV lineups.
Not only did Fox recently announce they are developing a new horror comedy with Ryan Murphy called Scream Queens, now MTV is joining the television horror fun by ordering its Scream adaptation to series. The show will premiere Oct. 2015 with 10 episodes.
Scream 4 movie review
As if any ’90s kid could forget, Scream is the story of some small-town teenagers who are terrorized by a psychopath. As they are picked off one by one, the group of friends begins analyzing the rules of horror they now live in.
The pilot for the show was first ordered by MTV back in May 2013. Jill Blotevogel (Harper’s Island, Ravenswood) is the executive producer and will also be the showrunner for the series.
Teen Wolf vs. Pretty Little Liars: Which show has the most dedicated fans?
The series’s premise will be a little different and updated for the technological 21st century. According to Entertainment Weekly, the show will follow popular but shy Emma (Willa Fitzgerald), artsy loner Audrey (Bex Taylor-Klaus), computer geek Noah (John Karna), all-American athlete Will (Connor Weil), socialite Brooke (Carlson Young) and mysterious newcomer Kieran (Amadeus Serafini).
Now the movies, originally, were the stuff of serious teenage nightmares. Bloody, brutal and twisted with, of course, some awesome ’90s cliches thrown into the mix, we have to say that we’re unsure about MTV’s ability to pull the story off as a show. Especially given that the network will be limited in their gruesome depictions due to TV guidelines.
POLL: Which Teen Wolf death would most impact the show?
Is anyone else picturing just a more gruesome version ofPretty Little Liars? Because we definitely are. Especially with Jill Blotevogel of Ravenswood set as showrunner. Now, as fans of Pretty Little Liars and the classic Scream movies, that makes us more than willing to give this show a chance.
Call us skeptically optimistic and cross your fingers crossed Scream delivers in 2015.
