Taylor Swift and Spotify are never, ever, ever getting back together. Like, ever. So stop begging, Spotify, ’cause you’re just making a fool of yourself.
Swift has pulled her entire music catalog from the streaming music service, and Spotify — who never saw this coming! They just went on a romantic date last weekend! — is totally devastated. In fact, in a really embarrassing move (seriously, can’t you just smell the desperation?) Spotify posted a love letter begging TSwift to please, please take them back. They’ll do anything.
“We love Taylor Swift, and our more than 40 million users love her even more – nearly 16 million of them have played her songs in the last 30 days, and she’s on over 19 million playlists,” the service posted to their blog.

“We hope she’ll change her mind and join us in building a new music economy that works for everyone. We believe fans should be able to listen to music wherever and whenever they want, and that artists have an absolute right to be paid for their work and protected from piracy. That’s why we pay nearly 70% of our revenue back to the music community.
“PS – Taylor, we were both young when we first saw you, but now there’s more than 40 million of us who want you to stay, stay, stay. It’s a love story, baby, just say, Yes.”
Taylor Swift has big plans for the money from her new song
Why did she do it? To drive sales of her new album 1989, obvs. If Spotify users want their TSwift fix, they’re going to have to pony up and buy the album. Her strategy works well: 1989 is expected to hit 1 million sales in its first week.
This isn’t the first time Spotify has had its heart broken, though: Beyoncé, Adele and Coldplay have all ditched it, too.
