When Joan Rivers, the matriarch of Fashion Police, passed away, the future of the show was uncertain. But it looks like E! is very much trying to continue the show and it has a surprise name as the front-runner to replace the comedy icon.

Kathy Griffin confirmed to Access Hollywood that she was offered Rivers’ role on the show.
“I don’t know if the situation is correct at this time for me or right for me at this time,” Griffin said. “I really hope they continue in the spirit of Joan’s work. She brought a fearlessness and a brand of humor into our homes that we really need.”
On Wednesday, Nov. 19, a TMZ report said those connected with the show have confirmed Griffin will be joining the show.
The show has confirmed it will be back in January in time for awards season, and it will need a strong personality in the lead seat. So, is Kathy Griffin a good idea for the role? Here are some thoughts:

Although Rivers and Griffin have slightly different comedy styles, they are strong women in comedy — and not afraid to make fun of anyone or anything if it means a laugh. But this leads to another problem…

Rivers was never afraid to say what she thought, but she usually had a reason for it. If Griffin takes the role, she may feel obliged to bash, bash, bash. She would have some big shoes to fill and that may lead to a lot of bad decisions.
3. Griffin is not exactly a fashion connoisseur
Even though the comedian has filled in as a red carpet host, she has never seemed to have a hold on the fashion itself. She is normally there to offer comedic relief, but not much else.

No. 3 leads to the question of Griffin’s knowledge on the subject. Will she do enough research to know what she is talking about? Will she begin to dress better?
