Keira Knightley is standing up for her fellow actresses — and women — by fighting back against the Photoshopping of models and actresses in a variety of mediums. The actress agreed to pose nude, but only if she wasn’t Photoshopped.

“I think women’s bodies are a battleground and photography is partly to blame,” she said.
Knightley decided to pose nude for Interview magazine — as long as her photos weren’t altered in any way. According to Marie Claire, she explained, “Our society is so photographic now, it becomes more difficult to see all of those different varieties of shape.”
Knightley was not just taking a stand for other women, but also for herself with the protest. Back in 2004, she had realized she was Photoshopped on the King Arthur poster — or, at least, two very prominent parts of her were. She joked at the time, “Those things certainly weren’t mine.” Since then, she has been Photoshopped a variety of times — something she has realized is just part of her job.

“I’ve had my body manipulated so many different times for so many different reasons, whether it’s paparazzi photographers or for film posters.
“That [magazine shoot] was one of the ones where I said: ‘OK, I’m fine doing the topless shot so long as you don’t make them any bigger or retouch,'” she said. “Because it does feel important to say it really doesn’t matter what shape you are.”
