Miley Cyrus stopped by Conan on Thursday night to perform The Beatles’ “A Day in the Life” with The Flaming Lips. The result is not what you’d expect.
Remember the last time Cyrus and TFLcollaborated on that freak fest video when Cyrus was bedridden in the hospital? We do, because we were scarred for life after watching it. The Conan performance has us revisiting the question, “What is this love fest between Cyrus and The Flaming Lips about?”
Arnold Schwarzenegger quotes that sum up his son’s fling with Miley Cyrus
On the surface, a reasonable person might assume that a psychedelic rock group with a 53-year-old frontman (Wayne Coyne) and a 21-year-old pop star would have nothing in common. Not so.
If you’ve been following Cyrus’ career, even superficially, you’ve gathered that some of her choices lean toward the psychedelic. The Bangerz singer and TFL are also both from the South, they both seem to love The Beatles and they both do strange things for attention. So it would only make sense that they would collaborate on several Beatles classics for The Flaming Lips’ Beatles tribute album With a Little Help From My Fwends.
Ed Sheeran is sorry he called Miley a stripper
When this unlikely duo teamed up to perform on Conan, we didn’t know what to expect. The song opens with what is obviously several bodies (one of which we assume is Cyrus’) writhing under Coyne’s silver gown. Just about the time we start to get bored with the intro, out pops Cyrus to help Coyne finish “A Day in the Life” wearing a silver wig and a nude bodysuit covered in googly eyes (matching the googly eyes pasted to Coyne’s face).
Is Miley Cyrus just a walking joke? She thinks so!
We’re not sure how The Beatles would feel about this remake, but we dig it. What do you think?
