Downton Abbey fans, we’re about to give you something to smile about because your favorite show is not going anywhere!
According to Mashable, PBS announced on Thursday that there is a Season 6 in the works for the popular period drama.

Although, it’s not all that surprising that Downton Abbey has managed to secure another season because Season 4 had an average audience of 13.2 million viewers on PBS, making it the top drama of all time for the channel, PBS reports.
News of the renewal comes just a few months before Downton Abbey’s Season 5 is set to premiere on PBS on Sunday, Jan. 4, 2015. However, viewers in the United Kingdom have been lucky enough to enjoy the fifth season of the series all fall, and the season ends there on Sunday, Nov. 9, followed later by Downton Abbey’s annual Christmas special.

“We have had an amazing reaction to the story lines, acting and production values of Downton Abbey this year, and the whole team is thrilled to be moving ahead with a new season of the show,” said Gareth Neame, the show’s executive producer, said in a statement. “This will provide audiences with a fresh opportunity to see what will befall our much loved characters.”
The beloved series’ sixth season will be written by show creator Julian Fellowes, but no returning cast was officially announced.
But this isn’t the only exciting Downton Abbey news.

And if that’s not enough to get you excited, there is also an extra special spoken word Christmas story read by Jim Carter, who plays role of the beloved butler Mr. Carson.
