There’s a slight change in tone from the first trailer in this new Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer, which focuses more on humanity’s reluctance to change. We can’t help but wonder if there’s a lesson for America hidden in this upcoming superhero flick.
1. It opens on a sparkling cityscape at twilight
The first trailer for Avengers: Age of Ultron opened with a shot of a suburban landscape in full daylight. In the second trailer, there’s a more ominous feeling as night falls.

2. Ultron’s maniacal laugh
In the first trailer, Ultron’s (James Spader) first line is, “I’m going to show you something beautiful.” In this one, Ultron gives a sinister chuckle, as if to imply he has a secret or is in control. He then says, “I know you mean well, you want to protect the world, but you don’t want it to change. There is only one path to peace: your extinction.”
3. “Everyone… tangled in strings”
In the first trailer, Ultron says, “You’re all puppets tangled in strings,” which makes his statement sound more like a metaphor than a true danger. In the new trailer, he says, “Everyone tangled in strings,” which feels more menacing.

4. Animated Marvel logo
In the new trailer, the Marvel logo animation runs much earlier, at second 24. In the first trailer, they waited until 45 seconds into it. It seems like the new trailer wants to solidify the brand before revealing too much information.
5. Avengers at the command station
Just seven seconds in, we see a quick shot of several Avengers, including Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) and Pietro Maximoff (Aaron Taylor-Johnson). The first trailer focused more on shots of innocent people suffering and the city’s destruction, not revealing any of the Avengers until 24 seconds in.
6. The breeze in Black Widow’s hair
At second 46, it appears as if Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) is peering through some type of opening. There is a gentle breeze blowing her dark curls. She very subtly shakes her head as if in disbelief.
