Why might Alfonso Ribeiro bow out of the DWTS semifinals?

Dancing With the Stars contestant Alfonso Ribeiro might have to quit the show due to a back injury.

The Fresh Prince of Bel Air star is a fan favorite on the show, but he has unfortunately been plagued with injuries since he pulled a groin muscle earlier this season.

According to People, Ribeiro is currently under medical supervision and might not be allowed to perform on Monday or for the remainder of the season due to back trouble, which began following his groin injury.

The back injury was caused by Ribeiro overcompensating for his groin injury during his iconic dance, The Carlton. TMZ reports that the star skipped rehearsal on Thursday so he could have more tests to determine his condition and whether he can compete. The back injury is reportedly so bad right now that Ribeiro is having trouble walking, but doctors are looking to the next 48 hours to determine the next step for the star.

Despite his injuries, Ribeiro and his partner Witney Carson have been on or near the top of the leader board nearly every week. They made to this season’s semifinals with Tommy Chong and pro Peta Murgatroyd, Bethany Mota and pro Derek Hough, Sadie Robertson and pro Mark Ballas, and Janel Parrish and pro Val Chmerkovskiy.

Though Ribeiro may have to quit the show, he definitely still has reason to celebrate. Aside from making it to the Season 19 semifinals, Ribeiro also revealed during the show on Oct. 26 that he and his wife Angela Unkrich are expecting another baby. The couple already have a one-year-old son.
