Katy Perry fans are going to be very excited about this news, because the NFL has just confirmed that their Halftime Show performer for the Super Bowl XLIX will be none other than the “Dark Horse” singer.

After months of speculation as to whether Perry would be headlining the show, the news was confirmed on Sunday night when Bob Costas made the announcement on Sunday Night Football, during halftime of the Cowboys vs. Giants game, Us Weekly reports.
The official NFL Twitter page also confirmed the news, as did the pop star, who appears to be very happy and is already planning how to wow with her big performance at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, on Feb. 1, 2015.

Perry also reflected on how much her life has changed over the last few years.
3 AMA'S & SUPER BOWL?! Not long ago I was playing guitar on the streets of Santa Barbara for maybe 20 bucks a day & an avocado. Wow, life!

The singer was definitely a good choice for the next Halftime Show performer, because she has a massive following and happens to be the most-followed person on Twitter, with over 60 million followers.
Perry will now join the long list of impressive performers who took to the halftime stage before her, including The Rolling Stones, Madonna, Beyoncé, Bruce Springsteen and last year’s performer Bruno Mars.
According to Mashable, Bruno Mars had the most-watched half-time show ever with 115.3 million viewers, and we have a feeling that Perry can give Mr. Mars a serious run for his money, especially since she already has some “insane” ideas to do so.

In a video called Hyped for Halftime, which was posted shortly after the announcement, Perry says, “I’ve got some insane ideas this year. Like… what if we covered the stadium in glitter?
“But the glitter… was edible.”
