Nirvana says Nevermind 20 years later

Nirvana is celebrating the 20th anniversary of its sophomore album Nevermind by reissuing the CD along with some extra goodies.

If grunge is dead…

I guess someone forgot to tell Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters), Krist Novoselic, and famed music producer Butch Vig that the scene had died, because they have been hard at work creating something amazing. Has it really been 20 years since Kurt Cobain and Nirvana released the game-changing album Nevermind?

The Nirvana camp finished up all the hard work on what will serve as a 20th anniversary re-issue of the album that changed the face of the music scene seemingly out of nowhere in the nineties. The re-mastered version of Nirvana’s 1991 ground breaking record Nevermind is a celebration of the album that busted through to mainstream audiences everywhere, paving the way for fellow “grunge” acts like Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains andSoundgarden. This “80’s Hair band” killing album has been certified by The Recording Industry Association of America as ten times platinum (10 million copies shipped).

Even though Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters) had refused to even speak of the death of his former Nirvana band mate Kurt Cobain for the last 19 years. He has just recently opened up about his feelings during those tough times. Grohl and the rest of the Nirvana camp have worked very hard to offer something that not only celebrates the bands success which was essentially launched by the album Nevermind, but it is also a tribute to Grohl’s longtime friend, band mate, and the voice of a generation.

Former, Current or future fan?

Whether you are a longtime Nirvana fan, or Just about to get a taste of one of the most influential bands of its decade, now is the time to indulge. This album changed everything, and for better or worse Nevermind influenced bands that still try to mimic their sound, style and intensity to this day (ahem… Nickelback). The Deluxe Edition is the perfect package for new fans and old alike as it includes the original album along with B-side as well as un-released recording sessions. The limited copy Super Deluxe Edition for the more hardcore fans, also includes the original Nevermind album mix by Butch Vig (before Andy Wallace re-mixed the commercially released version), as well as a DVD of Nirvana’s legendary Halloween show Live at the Paramount Theatre.

Both versions dropped September 19th 2011 – So now it’s time to simply decide which one is for you!
