Proof that perseverance can overcome any obstacle! Canadian journalist and amateur dancer Phil Villeneuve takes the world as his stage. His energetic dance-contest video submission earned him a feature on Ellen. So, what’s next?
One small video feature for Ellen, a huge achievement for a dance enthusiast from Toronto.
Toronto local Phil Villeneuve has been dancing on the streets of the city for years now. His YouTube videos have a hefty following and display Villeneuve’s dance routines in various neighbourhoods of Hogtown. His popularity has given him the opportunity to meet celebs like Ke$ha, Kylie Minogue and the Scissor Sisters.
Not too shabby, eh?
But yesterday, Villeneuve’s dance grooves were featured on the Ellen DeGeneres Show, as part of the contest called “Ellen’s Dance Dare,” which challenges contestants to videotape themselves busting a move behind an unaware stranger.
“It’s pretty thrilling to have the clip on the show. Hopefully it’s only step one and the next step is going to L.A. to dance with her. It was a short clip, but it was short and sweet and I couldn’t be happier,” Villeneuve gushed to Yahoo! Canada Music yesterday.
According to the show’s website, the finalist of the contest is promised a “big prize from Ellen.” The fans are speculating that the winner will get a chance to dance with DeGeneres herself.
Well, we sure hope that our Canadian home-boy Villeneuve will dance to the winner’s circle, because he’s got some mad moves and we couldn’t be more proud!
