If you miss Arnold Schwarzenegger gracing your screen, fear not! He is coming back with a vengeance as the infamous Conan the Barbarian.
There are some things you just never want to see a senior citizen do, like wear a loincloth…
You may not have much of a choice on this one, though. Arnold Schwarzenegger has accepted the titular role in The Legend of Conan, a continuation of the epic barbarism-filled franchise that propelled the actor to stardom over 30 years ago.
We can only hope that this older Conan either lives in the Great White North (hence covered in clothes) or hath chosen the path of a righteous monk, long robes and all. Just something about seeing a 65-year-old running about in a teeny-weeny loincloth triggers a whole body anaphylaxis, no?
“I always loved the Conan character, and I’m honoured to be asked to step into the role once again,” Schwarzenegger told Deadline. “I can’t wait to work with Universal and the great team of Fredrik Malmberg and Chris Morgan to develop the next step of this truly epic story.”
Just to clarify, this sequel is the continuation of 1982’s Conan the Barbarian, not the humiliating, awful 2011 remake starring Jason Momoa or the 1984 sequel Conan the Destroyer. Tabula rasa, as they say — clean slate.
What do you think? Arnie back as the sword-wielding Cimmerian, yay or nay?
