The film — based on the Nicholas Sparks novel of the same name — was directed by Nick Cassavetes and was released on June 25, 2004. Which is just coconuts. Telling a moving tale of a Southern rich girl named Allie (McAdams), who falls in love with a country boy named Noah (Gosling), and whose young courtship is put through countless tribulations. Sounds perfect, no?
Being eternal saps around here, we’ve decided to share some of our favourite quotes from the film, so we could laugh and cry together. Load up on tissues, prior to reading.
1. The stuff tears are made of
“The best love is the kind that awakens the soul and makes us reach for more, that plants a fire in our hearts and brings peace to our minds, and that’s what you’ve given me.”
2. A thousand times, yes!
“Do you think our love, can take us away together?”
3. But you’re Ryan Gosling… (in youth)
“I am nothing special; just a common man with common thoughts, and I’ve led a common life…But in one respect I have succeeded as gloriously as anyone who’s ever lived: I’ve loved another with all my heart and soul; and to me, this has always been enough.”
4. Us? OK, Ry-Ry!
“I want all of you, forever, every day. You and me… every day.”
5. When Noah served the “Oh, snap!” moment
“It’s not about following your heart and it’s not about keeping your promises. It’s about security.”

7. Sometimes mamma doesn’t know best
“‘Cause I might know you a little better than you think. And I don’t want you waking up one morning thinking if you’d known everything you might have done something different.”
8. And cue best kissing scene, ever
“It wasn’t over, it still isn’t over…”
9. When Noah brings the hammer down
“Would you stop thinkin’ about what everyone wants? Stop thinkin’ about what I want, what he wants, what your parents want. What do you want?”
10. Is this where Nelly Furtado got her inspiration?
