We could not possibly be more proud of Canada than we are right now. The Canadian film lineup for the Toronto International Film Festival was announced on Wednesday, and it is glorious. We repeat: It is glorious.
Joining David Cronenberg’s Maps to the Stars — one of the first Canadian films announced for this year — is Xavier Dolan’s highly anticipated drama Mommy, which follows a widowed single mother struggling with her troubled son. The film received a long standing ovation and the Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival. Denys Arcand’s An Eye for Beauty as well as Charles Binamé’s The Elephant Song are also appearing as special presentations at the festival this year.

The incredible thing about the Canadian film lineup this year is that it manages to cover the country from coast to coast. It’s not centred on Vancouver, Montreal and Toronto, but spans all the provinces, which is pretty rare. Check out the extended list of films below, and don’t forget to check some of these out at TIFF if you get a chance.
