Robin Williams was found dead at the age of 63 in his home on Monday morning. The actor died of apparent asphyxia, but the official cause is yet to be confirmed.

Robin Williams passed away this morning at the age of 63, from a confirmed suicide by hanging. The actor was found unconscious in his home and pronounced dead at the scene. Williams’s publicist issued the following statement:

“Robin Williams passed away this morning. He has been battling severe depression of late. This is a tragic and sudden loss. The family respectfully asks for their privacy as they grieve during this very difficult time.”
Williams received an Academy Award for his role in Good Will Hunting, but is most fondly remembered for his character in Mrs. Doubtfire — a role he was set to reprise in the sequel. The actor also appeared in Dead Poets Society, Jumanji, Hook and Aladdin.
