Hear ye, hear ye! The glorious Toronto International Film Festival hath decreed Sept. 5 the official Bill Murray Day and hath authorised magnificent festivities in the actor’s honour. Cueth the trumpets!
‘Tis true, folks! TIFF organised free screenings of Murray’s most-beloved films like Groundhog Day, Stripes and Ghostbusters at the TIFF Bell Lightbox in downtown Toronto. Pretty neat, eh? It’s time to brush up on that trivia.

Here’s the cool part though: Bill Murray himself will be in town for the merriment!
The 63-year-old actor is planning to attend TIFF this year in support of his newest film St. Vincent, where he plays a rather grumpy war veteran, who takes on babysitting duties for his new single mum neighbour. We know, it sounds hilarious.

Since there are many opportunities here and a lot of excitement, we need to stay calm. These festivities need to be handled with precision, devotion and devious planning, capeesh? So, here’s the action strategy we devised for optimal juicing of the TIFF Bill Murray extravaganza. Don’t fail us…
1. Prepare
Don’t let anyone make you feel like a pansy. Study! Read up on Bill Murray’s films and absorb every fact you can — that way you can school any other fan trying to cross you. This is not a drill! You elbow everyone out of your way, OK?
2. Get tickets
OK, this is crucial, so listen up. Tickets cannot be pre-ordered. They can be picked up at the TIFF Bell Lightbox on a first-come, first-served basis starting 8 a.m. ET on Sept. 5. We repeat, they are handed out on a first-come, first-served basis! So, if you want to be a winner, get there early with a lawn chair and sit your butt off until those tickets are in your darnitty hands.
3. Hit ’em all
This is not necessary, but highly encouraged. Fans who attend all three (free) screenings are eligible to win a ticket to the world premiere of St. Vincent in Los Angeles in October. You don’t have to do it, but this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Worst-case scenario: You will have a great time watching three Bill Murray movies.
4. Keep your eye on the prize
Everyone knows that Bill Murray is unpredictable and awesome, meaning that he may drop in on some of those free movie screenings. Or all of them. So, keep an eye out. All we’re saying is, it’d be pretty neat to watch Stripes with Murray or snap a selfie with the actor on his own holiday.

So, now that you’re equipped with a plan, will you be attending the Bill Murray Day in Toronto? Which one of these three films would you want to watch with the actor himself?
