You have to admit, this girl knows how to keep us on our toes. Miley Cyrus has surprised her fans and non-fans alike by releasing a grainy cover of Led Zeppelin’s “Babe I’m Gonna Leave You” from the iconic band’s debut 1969 record, Led Zeppelin. Didn’t see that coming, did you?

The 21-year-old “Wrecking Ball” singer posted the song on SoundCloud, modifying the title to “Baby, I’m Gonna Leave You,” and redirected her followers to the track through Twitter. The song was originally a folk song written by Anne Bredon before being remade into a rock anthem by Zeppelin. The cover really tests Cyrus’s vocal range and showcases her versatility as well as her broad musical taste.
Of course, this track now has people all riled up, with some adoring the cover and others wanting to lock Cyrus in jail for the rest of her life. The polarized views are clearly plastered all over Miley’s comments page on SoundCloud, with users battling it out for eternal righteousness.
“Miley has huge potential. This is cool,” wrote a user named campclan1 on Cyrus’s SoundCloud page.
“this is as far as I dare to go….stop ruining music people actually used to like and stick to ruining your own,” stated another user, Adam Leachman.
“She really can sing, she did it right, she has a beautiful voice. She like this song and she wanted to do a cover of this, so leave her alone,” wrote VickyCyruus.

“This is a Travesty !!!!” wrote a user named ScooterGa.
“I was fully prepared to not like this at all but you’ve done a decent job, that’s as good a Led Zep cover as I’ve ever heard. Well done pickle,” wrote azb1980.
And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. The song has been listened to by over half a million users and has over 600 comments (all of which vary in emotion). As shocking as it may be, we’d say the reviews are mostly positive, but it’s a close race. What do you think of the cover?
