Nicki Minaj has been vocal about her past experiences in recent interviews, but on her new track “All Things Go” from her third studio album, fans will be surprised at just how open she is about the issues she has endured over the years.
Nicki Minaj doesn’t just want fame, she wants a family
Minaj’s new song off her album The Pinkprint shows the rapper’s vulnerable side as she opens up about the death of her cousin, her broken engagement and the fact that she and her old boyfriend Aaron lost a child 16 years ago.
On the track, which is produced by Boi-1da, Vinylz and Allen Ritter and cowritten by Ester Dean, Minaj raps, “My child with Aaron would have been 16, any minute/ So in some ways I feel like Caiah [Micaiah, her younger brother] is the both of them/ It’s like he’s Caiah’s little angel, looking over him.”
Nicki Minaj just posted nearly naked photos — and we actually like them
The “Anaconda” hit maker also touches on her engagement in the song, hinting at the fact that she hesitantly accepted a marriage proposal more than a decade ago.
Her lyrics read, “Ten years ago was when you proposed/ I looked down… ‘Yes, I suppose,'” and in another line she speaks about the death of her little cousin.
“I lost my little cousin to a senseless act of violence/ His sister said he wanted to stay with me but I didn’t invite him, why didn’t he ask?
“…N***** trying to kill him/ He ain’t even call me/ And that’s a reflection of me, yes I get it, I get it was all me/ I’ll pop a pill and remember the look in his eyes the last day he saw me.”
5 Times Lil Jon’s and Nicki Minaj’s new videos made us insane with anger
It’s a deep track with a catchy chorus, and Minaj has really bared her soul. And we have no doubt fans will be impressed.
