The movie version of Into the Woods boast a lot of great actors who can sing, but our favorite may be Anna Kendrick. As Cinderella, Kendrick is vulnerable yet passionate, so why does she have to run away from her prince, Chris Pine? Is she simply playing hard to get or is there more going on? Is she in some sort of mortal danger that’s causing her to flee? Does this prince have some kind of dark secret? This clip raises so many questions.

One thing we do know is that the prince suspected Cinderella would be running off before he could fully romance her, making him strategize on how to keep her near him. What he does to make her stick around proves he’s very clever. We’ve always wondered exactly how Cinderella lost her slipper, especially if it fit her so perfectly, and now we know.
Watch Anna Kendrick sing her shock and surprise when she realizes how the prince must really feel about her. Her intense feelings are a lot more complicated than any Cinderella we’ve seen before.
