Nick Cannon confirms the rumors about Mariah Carey (VIDEO)

Nick Cannon just confirmed the rumor he’s been dancing around for months, and sadly, we can’t say we’re surprised.

Rumors of a rift between Cannon and Mariah Carey started after he yapped about his previous conquests — including Kim Kardashian — to Howard Stern, but neither has directly answered the claims until now.

“You and I were just talking, Mariah and you are separated, Christmas is about family first and foremost,” Good Morning America host Lara Spencer asked Cannon during an appearance Monday.

“Always focus on family,” Cannon said. “We’ll forever be family. At the same time, we’re there for our children, making them the No. 1 priority and understanding they’re loved and can have an amazing holiday.”

Canon previously admitted there was trouble in paradise, but stopped short of calling it a formal separation, which now we know it clearly is.

In fact, the split is rumored to be the reason Mariah was tardy to the party when she was due to perform for the Rockefeller Center tree-lighting ceremony. The diva showed up three hours late for her taping and was heard angrily talking on her cell phone to her divorce lawyer as she got out of her car. She later tweeted an apology to her fans.

Cannon has strongly suggested the rumors were true in multiple interviews, including a blurb he gave People in November about how all the ladies be chasin’ him down.

“I’m great. There are a lot of people after me right now,” he told the mag. “I gotta slow it down. I’m trying to slow it down and stay focused. Family is the first thing and my kids are most important.”
