10 Best and worst music videos of 2014 (VIDEOS)

Warning: Some of the videos featured in this article are NSFW due to graphic language.

2014 was a banner year for music videos. We got to “Shake It Off” with Taylor Swift, swing from a “Chandelier” with Sia, be “All About That Bass” with Meghan Trainor, get “Fancy” with Iggy Azalea and, well, we got to attempt to pop our eyes back in our head as we watched Nicki Minaj booty clap her way through “Anaconda.”

So much musical eye candy was bestowed upon us, and all of the best videos seem to have one important thing in common: They make everyone want to shake their butts.

Here are the top five most-viewed videos on YouTube in 2014.

1. Katy Perry featuring Juicy J, “Dark Horse”

At 715,212,182 views, the Egyptian-themed video is No. 1 on YouTube for this year. It is pure pop and all fun. The bright colors, sexy dancing, surreal images and quirky little nuggets (hello Twinkies, pink cupcakes and flaming hot Cheetos!) keep your eyes glued to the screen. It’s Katy Perry — would you really expect anything less?

2. Enrique Iglesias featuring Descemer Bueno and Gente De Zona, “Bailando”

This video isn’t in English, so if you don’t speak Spanish, you won’t understand a lick of the lyrics. But Iglesias is pretty hot, so we don’t really care, and apparently 586,914,707 YouTube viewers agree with us.

3. Shakira featuring Rihanna, “Can’t Remember to Forget You”

Two women one word: hotness. We’re almost surprised this one only had 442,715,045 views.

4. Shakira featuring Carlinhos Brown, “La La La”

If you say you can sit through this video without at least bobbing your head, we don’t believe you.

5. Jason Derulo featuring Snoop Dogg, “Wiggle”

Derulo may have taken a hit in his personal life this year, but you would never know it by watching this vid. And forget “Wiggle,” this video should be renamed “Giggle” because that’s what we do every time we see Snoop Dogg.

OK, now that we’ve taken a moment to pay respects to the best videos of 2014, let’s take a look at the opposite end of the spectrum, shall we?

1. RiFF RAFF, “Dolce & Gabbana”

KFed, is that you? RiFF RAFF may have gone on a date with the performer of this year’s No. 1 video, but, dude, we seriously hope this is a joke.

2. Psy featuring Snoop Dogg, “Hangover”

Caution: Do not watch this video or listen to this song if you really are, indeed, hungover.

3. Avril Lavigne, “Hello Kitty”

If Katy Perry and Gwen Stefani had a love child, it would be Lavigne in this video. May sound super rad, but trust us, it’s not.

4. Paris Hilton, “Come Alive”

Is this a music video or a Skittles commercial?

5. Justin Bieber featuring Chance the Rapper, “Confident”

We’re not sure which is worse: His mustache, the fact that he looks like he had an accident in his pants or the pickup lines he’s throwing at his female lead.
