We are in the middle of December, which can only mean one thing for Beyoncé fans: We are nearing the one-year mark since the pop titan dropped her surprise OMG self-titled visual album.
To commemorate the big one-year anniversary of the project, which spawned video after video, Bey uploaded a short film called “Yours And Mine” to her YouTube account. In the 11-minute video, the singer talks about dealing with fame, a friend passing away and what ultimately makes her happy. SheKnows rounded up the 11 most moving quotes from the film, which sound slightly like diary entries from Gone Girl‘s Amy Dunne. Take a look.

1. “I sometimes wish I could be anonymous and walk down the street just like everyone else.”
This is the opening line that Beyoncé begins her short film with. Much like countless of other celebrities, it might seem like a no-brainer, but Bey’s afterthoughts are intriguing. She says she was always just the woman who wanted a “beautiful view of the beach.” Despite fame’s challenges, she thanks Mama Knowles for instilling important values during her upbringing.
2. “There’s nothing real about [fame].”
Despite releasing a short film like this one, Bey says that she’s just become property of the public. She’s been stripped away of her human fragility, and frankly, she doesn’t sound very happy about it. It’s a bit of an eyebrow-raising moment because the singer has built a reputation for her PR-trained Stepford Wives eeriness.
3. “You can’t put your finger on who I am.”
But neither can she. “I can’t put my finger on who I am,” she continues.
4. “You need something real in order for any of this stuff to matter.”
Bey could be talking about a bunch of things at this point in the film, but we’re guessing it could probably be her love. Whether it’s her love for her child, her family or herself, the singer says you need to have “something that’s invisible.”
5. “I’m no longer afraid of conflict, and I don’t think conflict is a bad thing.”
Bey admits that she’s always played a people-pleaser role, specifically referencing how her mother did the same thing when she was young. However, she says that she’s come to the point in her life where she’s not afraid to let go or to go to certain places that might make her feel uncomfortable.

6. “If I hadn’t gone through some of the painful experiences in my life, I would not be me.”
No explanation needed, right?
7. “I feel like my body is borrowed and this life is very temporary.”
It’s five minutes into the video, where we start to feel like we are really getting a glimpse into what hides behind the corporation that is Beyoncé. She reveals that she gained so much insight from watching a friend pass away.
8. “We do not value ourselves enough; especially young people don’t really appreciate how brilliant our bodies are.”
This part sounds a little vague until Bey talks about always being choosy about what she decides to do with her body and who she decides to share her body with.
9. “I’ve always considered myself a feminist, although I was always afraid of that word because people put so much on it.”
Bey tackles her anti-feminist detractors in this part of her short film with a very simple explanation. “It’s a person that believes in equality for men and women,” she says. “Men and women balance each other out and we have to get to a point where we’re comfortable appreciating each other.”
10. “I have a lot of empathy for men and the pressures that they go through and the cultures that have been created, especially for African American men.”
She also says she has empathy for women too, so Beyoncé basically has a lot of empathy to share.
11. “The love that I have for music, and my husband, for my child is something that will last far beyond my life.”
This is the last line in the short film, and rightfully so.
