Unfortunately for us (and all other lovers of glamorous, over-the-top nuptials), John’s upcoming wedding is going to be a quiet, intimate affair.
According to Xpose Entertainment, John is set to tie the not with David Furnish, his longtime partner, as soon as this weekend.
John has been with Furnish, a former advertising executive, since 1993 — an impressive 21 years. The couple has two children.
John and Furnish have been in a civil union since 2005, but now that gay marriage is legal in England, they plan to make it official.

“We’ll do it very quietly. But we will do it and it will be a joyous occasion and we will have our children [there],” John said in an interview with Matt Lauer in March. “For this legislation to come through is joyous and we should celebrate it. We shouldn’t just say, ‘Oh, well, we have a civil partnership, we’re not going to bother to get married.’ We will get married.”
The legendary, Grammy-winning rocker emphasized the wedding will be a family affair, with sons — 3-year old Zachary and 9-month-old Elijah — present for the “I dos.” Both boys were born from the same surrogate mother and John and Furnish appear to have comfortably settled into co-fatherhood, though John lamented earlier this year that he wished they had taken the leap into parenthood earlier in their lives.

“It was the best decision we ever did,” he said to host, Dermot O’Leary, at an earlier event to celebrate his Brits Icon Award. “I wish we had done it 20 years earlier because I am no spring chicken. I understand people criticising us for having children at a late age but to hell with it. We can give these children so much love.”
