Jamie Dornan has a legit fear of being killed by Fifty Shades fans

Jamie Dornan knows that some die-hard fans of Fifty Shades of Gray rabidly oppose his casting in the movie, but we don’t think they’d go this far to express their displeasure — would they?

Dornan, who plays Christian Gray opposite Dakota Johnson’s Anastasia Steele, knows that not everyone thinks he embodies their perfect version of the BDSM-loving billionaire, and he is more than a little afraid that one will turn out to be dangerously psychotic.

“I’m very aware of opinion regarding the film, whether it be positive or negative. It is, by its nature, an easy target,” he told Details.

“I almost don’t want to put this out there into the ether, but I fear I’ll get murdered, like John Lennon, by one of those mad fans at the premiere,” he said. “Because a lot of people are very angry that I’m playing this character. And I’m a father now, and a husband. I don’t want to die yet.

“And when I do get murdered, people will say, ‘God, isn’t it haunting how he did that interview in Details magazine and predicted his own death on the red carpet?'” he joked.

Dornan’s fear may not be misplaced. Multiple celebrities have been killed by crazed fans:

1. Singer Selena, shot in cold blood by the president of her fan club, Yolanda Saldivar.

2. Actress Rebecca Schaeffer, shot in her doorway by Robert John Bardo after she signed an autograph for him.

3. Fashion designer Gianni Versace, killed by Andrew Cunanan

4. The aforementioned John Lennon, murdered by Mark David Chapman in front of his New York City apartment building.

And that’s not to mention the dozens and dozens of stars who manage to wrestle their dangerous stalkers under control through the legal system. So what Dornan said is not exactly out of left field.
