3. You’ll need a $99 service to get your hands on it
If you don’t already have the Amazon Prime Instant video service, then according to the New York Times, an annual membership for the service costs $99 (and includes free two-day shipping).
4. Amazon Studios chose Allen because he is a “visionary creator”
In a statement, Roy Price, vice president of Amazon Studios, revealed his excitement about the project.
“Woody Allen is a visionary creator who has made some of the greatest films of all time, and it’s an honor to be working with him on his first television series. From Annie Hall to Blue Jasmine, Woody has been at the creative forefront of American cinema and we couldn’t be more excited to premiere his first TV series exclusively on Prime Instant Video next year.”
5. This is actually not the first time Allen penned a sitcom
According to Deadline, the Oscar-winning director previously wrote an unaired sitcom pilot, The Laughmakers, for ABC in 1962, but this will be the first time that fans can actually watch a Woody Allen TV series.

6. Allen says Roy Price will regret this collaboration
In a statement, the Manhattan star jokingly said, “I don’t know how I got into this. I have no ideas and I’m not sure where to begin. My guess is that Roy Price will regret this.”
We’re expecting to see great things from this collaboration and it’s already been a good year for Amazon, whose series Transparent just won the Golden Globe for Best TV Series, Musical or Comedy. The only question now is what could this new series possibly be about?
Allen has made films ranging from romantic comedies like Annie Hall to crime thrillers like The Curse of the Jade Scorpion, so we’re interesting in finding out what his next idea is going to be.
We’ll keep you updated on this project when more details are released.
