Nick Jonas is sick of ‘looking at himself’ grabbing his crotch

As if we needed any more proof that Nick Jonas has left his Disney days completely behind him.

The now-22-year-old former Jonas Brother did an in-depth interview with Rolling Stone and dished on all the things that have changed since his purity-ring-rocking boy band days. From partying with Taylor Swift, Beyoncé and Jay Z, to dating Miss Universe Olivia Culpo, it’s probably safe to say Nick is officially all grown up.

“It was a lot of fun,” he said of his Jonas Brothers days. “I got to perform at the White House five or six times, and I went to spring training with the Dodgers, which was a highlight of my entire life. But there are also things that are embarrassing, like looking back at your middle-school yearbook. Especially the emphasis on our relationships. That can mess with your head. We had a pretty huge female fan base, so we had to make a concerted effort to keep things private and say we didn’t have girlfriends. I feel bad about it now. I probably hurt some people.”

And then there’s how Nick relaxes nowadays. Unlike his older brother, Joe, he never smoked weed with his fellow Disney stars, like Miley Cyrus and Demi Lovato. But that doesn’t mean he passes on pot.

“I smoked weed elsewhere,” he said, laughing. “But I was actually way more guarded back then. I wasn’t partying too hard at 15, which is probably for the best. I’ve loosened up quite a bit since then. My Disney years feel like a long, long time ago.”

And now that Nick is known for his infamous crotch-grab photo shoot, he spoke out about that, too, and how he didn’t know at the time what a big deal it would turn out to be — and the fact that’s he’s totally over it.

“I had no idea,” he said. “It just kind of happened, and now I have a lot of unexpected new fans. It was pretty interesting to watch it all unfold and travel in the way it did. It’s resurfacing at the moment, as another male artist [Justin Bieber] has done a photo shoot similar to it. It’s one of those things where I’m getting sick of looking at myself like that.”
