This fan used her Frozen obsession to save herself from depression

by

There’s a reason why Disney‘s Frozen is wildly popular.

The 2013 animated film about two sisters, Anna and Elsa, who face dangerous obstacles in a snowy kingdom, has inspired people all over the world to bravely strike out in the face of adversity. One British woman has taken her obsession with the film and used it to truly change her life for the better.

Kirsty Taylor says she was introduced to Frozen at a time in her life when she felt she had hit rock bottom. “At the time I was suffering from severe depression and locked away in my room,” Taylor said in an interview with Britain’s ITV, via the Daily Mail. “Elsa’s character inspired me. She gave me hope. She was battling demons like I was battling my own. I know it’s a film, but I thought if she can do it, I can.”

Taylor admits that she identified with Elsa before the movie even hit the big screen. “I was obsessed from the trailers. I remember seeing the trailers and being desperate to go to the cinema and see it because I was so excited,” she said. “When I first saw it, I loved the story, the music, the characters — especially Elsa. She’s not your typical Disney princess. She wasn’t going out to find her true love.”

But Taylor didn’t leave her Elsa-driven inspiration at just abstract philosophical musings. She quickly invested quite a bit of money in Frozen costumes and props and began living her life as Elsa, who is voiced in the movie by Idina Menzel. Though it may sound a bit crazy, Taylor, who happens to bear a striking resemblance to the Disney character, actually turned the obsession into a healthy way of life and a new career. She set up her own business, attends children’s parties and visits schools as Elsa, according to the Daily Mail.

“She is my ultimate role model,” Taylor said of Elsa. “I don’t know what I’d do without Frozen. It’s taken over all aspects of my life.”
