The Duggars are not perfect after all. Cousin Amy Duggar has revealed that a persistent tabloid rumor is actually true: She was born out of wedlock, which is pretty much her uncle Jim Bob’s worst nightmare.
Amy, an aspiring country singer and sometimes guest star on 19 Kids and Counting, spilled the beans in an Instagram post this week that her parents went waaaaaaay further than a Christian side hug before cementing their relationship in the eyes of the Lord.

“The tabloids are telling the truth, my mom and dad did have me out of wedlock,” she wrote. “Just because we are Christians doesn’t make us perfect, it just makes us forgiven. Just because I share the Duggar name doesn’t mean my life is perfect! God knew my uncle would have a hit show and that somehow I would be apart of it. He knew my parents story would be told. How amazing is that?! Your testimony is everything. Everyone struggles, and sins differently. but Jesus paid it all!! I’m extremely grateful to my mom for choosing to give me life. I’m sure she was scared, young, ridiculed, and felt ashamed. God’s grace covered it though! She’s beautiful inside and out.

Her mother Deanna, who is Jim Bob’s sister, eventually wed Amy’s dad in 2006. We’re surprised Jim Bob’s kids were allowed to associate with Amy at all, considering he has forbidden them from talking to sister-in-law Anna’s little sister, herself an unwed mom.
Amy’s cousins Jill and Jessa Duggar, both had courtships that culminated in TV weddings, prior to which there was absolutely no hand-holding except while saying grace at meals and never, ever any kissing — all part of Jim Bob’s stringent dating rules designed to ensure that none of his kids wound up like his sister.
“As far as our kids dating, we believe a lot of times if you’re alone with the person, it can create desires that can kind of get stirred up, and you don’t have any accountability, and can kind of lead to some hanky-panky,” Jim Bob explained last April on the show. “Courtship is really getting to know each other for the purpose of possibly getting engaged and getting married.”
