Apparently, Nathan Parsons was made for the supernatural roles. The actor jumped from playing a vampire on the final season of True Blood to taking on the role of werewolf Jackson in The Originals.

But Parsons is more concerned with character rather than being a celebrity. “I’ve never thought of it that way,” Parsons said when we asked how he handled his heartthrob status after a series of leading roles. He can be seen next as the lead in Amazon’s civil war drama Point of Honor. “For me, I’m just happy enough to tell a great story. I don’t know much about that, I guess. I just kind of keep my head down.”
Which makes him sound a lot like Jackson, who has kept a low profile since Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) decided she wasn’t interested last season. According to Parsons, the marriage rituals will change all of that.
“Now we’ve got to start these rituals and go through this stuff. And we start to get a better idea of what Hayley and Jackson are going to go through,” Parsons explained.
We found out last week that part of the ritual involves Hayley and Jackson drinking some magic voodoo concoction that will make them both spill all their secrets. Hayley wasn’t game initially. (She obviously absolutely can’t divulge that Baby Hope is alive.) But then, shockingly, she went for it and the two werewolf no-so-lovebirds go off with the help of Jackson’s granny to begin the bonding process.
“She’s fantastic,” Parsons says of actress Debra Mooney, who plays his gran. “When she came in, she brought this sort of awesome gruffness to this character. And we really see this old-school werewolf, sort of like Ansel [Klaus’ father]. It’s nice to kind of harken back to who these peoples really were before everything went down, before Marcel killed everybody and sent all the wolves out to the bayou.”

As to how Jackson’s gran will handle Hayley, Parsons says, “She’s for [the marriage] because the potential of this ritual thing working far outweighs the risk. It’s a way for the wolves to come back into their own and get what’s theirs.”
As for when we’ll get to see the wedding? “You’ll just have to wait and see,” Parsons said, tight-lipped.
But the actor did open up about Jackson’s attempts to woo Hayley, even though she’s in love with Elijah (Daniel Gillies).
“He’s definitely trying,” Parsons said. “She a tough nut to crack, let’s put it that way. Yeah, I mean, he’s sort of been in this mode of ‘I’ve been crazy about you forever, but I’ve also realized that you’re not that into me.'”
But he’s not going to be on the sidelines anymore.
“Hayley’s so engrossed in all this stuff. She’s so deep in it. There’s no way to be involved with her and not get involved in that mess,” Parsons explained.
“He’s definitely going to work on it,” Parsons added. “And, hopefully, we’ll start to see that he is a worthy guy.”

On the flip side to that, Parsons also thinks Hayley is worthy of Jackson’s love. “I think there’s a lot of layers to Hayley. And she’s kind of been thrown into this mess that is the Mikaelson family. And he’s known her for a long time, essentially, even when he was just watching her as a wolf. He knows her in a quieter way than these other guys do. And he’s seen that there’s a lot there that’s definitely worth loving. I mean, yeah, he’s crazy about her.”
Parsons said he himself is “absolutely” a hopeless romantic, just like his character in the show.
The Originals airs tonight on The CW, and we’re told it’s going to be a big episode for Jackson as he and Klaus battle it out.
