Fifty Shades of Grey is giving a whole new meaning to buying rope at the hardware store with this new steamy clip of Anastasia (Dakota Johnson) and Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan).
But let’s be real, it’s borderline creepy. He buys himself some masking tape, zip ties and thick red rope. Either he’s getting kinky or he’s going to kill someone. (If you’ve seen The Fall, you know Dornan is definitely capable of the murder-y vibe. If you haven’t seen it, go on Netflix right now and start bingeing.)
Anastasia even calls him out on it at the end of the clip. “Rope, tape, cable ties? You’re the complete serial killer.”
“Not today,” a sly Christian Grey responds with a smirk.
The scene is one of the most memorable from the book because, while Anastasia hasn’t really gotten the hint yet, the reader knows exactly why Mr. Grey wants that rope. (Red Room of Pain anyone?)
As the trailer makes perfectly clear, Anastasia will also learn the about the extensive usefulness of rope for herself just shortly after helping Christian Grey make his not-so-innocent purchases.
From now on, buying rope will officially make me blush.
Johnson recently talked with Time about filming her racy Fifty Shades scenes, saying, “There’s a scene in which Christian uses a flogger on Anastasia. Filming a sex scene is not a sensual or pleasurable environment. It’s really hot — not in a steamy, sexual way. It’s just sweaty and it’s not very comfortable. And on top of that, my hands and legs were tied, and I was blindfolded and I was being hit with this bizarre tool.”
Plus, she had to do each scene multiple times, which she rightfully describes as “emotionally taxing.” And while at first she thought it was the worst thing ever, eventually the actress says, “I was like, ‘All right, let’s get on with it.'”
