Travel books: Three of the best

Whether or not you’re planning a summer holiday this year, you can escape to the sun with these travel books by authors including Karl Pilkington and the Two Greedy Italians.

If you can’t decide where to go on holiday this year, perhaps these travel books will give you some ideas…

Two Greedy Italians Eat Italy by Antonio Carluccio and Gennaro Contaldo

If you’re going to Italy on your travels then one of your main priorities has to be sampling all the amazing Italian food. Celebrity chefs Carluccio (pictured right) and Contaldo travelled around Italy to find the very best of Italian cuisine, and present a guide to their homeland in their second collaborative book.

More Ketchup than Salsa: Confessions of a Tenerife Barman by Joe Cawley

Joe Cawley provides a guide to Tenerife from the perspective of a British expat, who decided to set up a bar there with no previous experience. His stories of the quirky locals and irritating tourists may or may not encourage you to visit Tenerife, but it will give you a good laugh nonetheless!

An Idiot Abroad by Karl Pilkington, Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant

If you enjoyed the TV series An Idiot Abroad, then you have to read the book, which gives many more hilarious details of grumpy Brit Karl Pilkington’s experiences of some very different cultures. He also gets his comedian mates Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant involved to make the tales even more entertaining.
