Madonna confirms 2015 Brits performance

After weeks of speculation, Madonna has confirmed that she’ll perform at the 2015 Brit Awards. Savvy lady that she is, she’s managed to promote her album at the same time. What can we expect from the Queen of Controversy after all these years?

Madonna likes to keep us all in the loop via her Instagram account and used it to put an end to the speculation: she will take to the stage at the 2015 Brit Awards on Feb. 25.

Madge took the chance to promote her forthcoming album, Rebel Heart, at the same time by posting an image of the Brit statue with its face wrapped in black wire, just like the album cover.

Over the course of her 30-year career, Madonna has received 12 Brit nominations, winning twice for Best international Female (in 2001 and 2006).

So what can we expect from Madonna at the 2015 Brits? Here are some of the controversial performances she may (or may not) live up to:

Madonna’s “Like a Virgin” performance at the MTV Video Music Awards might seem tame to a modern audience but writhing around on the stage in a wedding dress while wearing a crucifix is about as controversial as it got back in 1984.

Long before Rita Ora, Cara Delevingne, Rihanna and a whole host of other celebs were snogging each other without anyone batting an eyelid, Madonna passionately kissed Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera at the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards — and the world went into meltdown.

Madonna’s performed “Live to Tell” on her 2006 Confessions tour while hanging from a crucifix, causing mayhem amongst Catholic groups across the world.
