After months in a medically induced coma, Bobbi Kristina Brown died today at the age of 22 at Peachtree Christian Hospice in Duluth, Georgia, surrounded by family and friends.
On Jan. 31, Brown’s boyfriend, Nick Gordon, and a friend reportedly found her facedown and unresponsive in a bathtub. According to reports, the friend called 911 and Gordon performed CPR until the police and paramedics arrived at her home. Brown was initially taken to North Fulton Hospital, where she was reported alive.

While fans flooded Twitter with prayers, there was hope that Brown’s condition may improve. Before being moved to Emory University Hospital on Feb. 2, Brown was placed in a medically induced coma, hooked up to a ventilator and given brain activity tests. Sources claimed that during the tests, doctors found her brain and oxygen levels increasing and noticed eye movement — all indications that some kind of recovery might be possible. But on Feb. 4, news broke that doctors were out of options and allowing the family to decide how long they wanted to keep Brown on life support.
Brown remained hospitalized until June, when she was moved to hospice care. In recent weeks, family members have been seen clearing belongings from Brown’s Atlanta home, backing up reports that doctors moved Brown to hospice because there was nothing more they could do to improve her health.
“She is finally at peace in the arms of God,” the Houston family said today in a statement to ET. “We want to again thank everyone for their tremendous amount of love and support during these last few months.”

Now the questions remain: What caused Brown’s death? Was she plagued by depression after losing her mother? Is someone else to blame? Could there have been drug use involved?
At this time, the investigation is ongoing, but multiple reports have surfaced speculating on several potential causes. Radar Online revealed emotional text messages sent by Brown detailing her sorrow since losing her mom. E! News reported that police were determining if eyewitnesses were at Brown’s home the morning of the incident and fled the scene. TMZ reported that police also found drugs during a second search of Brown’s home. And the latest news claims Brown sustained mysterious injuries, indicating foul play, and Nick Brown is being investigated.

“The Roswell Police Department has forwarded its investigative file to our Office,” Fulton County District Attorney Paul L. Howard, Jr. told Us Weekly on Thursday. “In view of the new circumstances regarding the health status of Bobbi Kristina Brown, we will be reviewing the case with greater interest. An announcement regarding a charging decision, if any, will be made at the appropriate time.”
A number of factors could have played a role, but regardless of the cause, this is truly a heartbreaking loss.
