Justin Bieber has surprised his fans with his return to The Ellen DeGeneres Show, but it’s his comments that have been the most surprising.
When Bieber appeared on host Ellen DeGeneres’ birthday show last week, he came across as a bit conceited. Following his appearance on the show, the pop star took to Facebook to post an apology video explaining that he was just nervous and that he has been putting on a front over the last few years, claiming, “I’m not who I was pretending to be.”
Now, just days after his appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Bieber headed back to the show on Thursday, Feb. 5 to explain to fans why he decided to make his apology video, and admit to his past mistakes.
“It was the first time I was on television for a long time, and I just was worried about what people were thinking about me,” Bieber explained to DeGeneres during his most recent visit. “I did a lot of things over the past few years that I’m not proud of… I was just nervous to be in front of people again and talk in front of them… I thought I just looked really extra-nervous and I kinda just wanted to explain myself.
“I am a human, right?” Bieber continued. “People often forget that, even with some of their comments and stuff they think that it doesn’t get to me. But it gets to me. You know, things that people say bothers me and I gotta be strong enough to just keep it pushing.”

Bieber also told DeGeneres that he wants to be better.
“That’s why I want just wanted to make the video, to just let people know that I’m human and I love people… I’m passionate about things and I’m passionate about being better and growing, so I think this is going to be an awesome chapter in my life,” he continued.
But are we buying it? How many times have we heard Biebs vow that he was going to change his ways, and then he didn’t?
Sure, it can’t be easy growing up in the spotlight at such a young age and having more money than you know what to do with, but that shouldn’t excuse his obnoxious behavior and multiple brushes with the law. Also, it’s no secret that the “Beauty and the Beat” hit maker has come under fire in recent years for his attitude, which has lost him the respect of fans and celebrities alike. So, it is possible that this new good-guy image is all an act and a publicity stunt — or maybe not.
We can’t help but think that perhaps the Canadian-born singer does actually intend to reform, and we hope so, because we still have a soft spot for him because of when he was that adorable, fresh-faced kid. But soft spots or not, the world really needs to lay off Bieber. Why? Because if you were the butt of every joke and the recipient of endless hate mail, and you took so much flak from the world, you’d also find it hard to be a nice guy, let alone show your face in public.

Bieber’s comments were met by a roar of applause, and unless every single one of the Ellen DeGeneres Show audience members is a devoted Belieber, we think that they’re buying the news that Bieber intends to reform, too.
