Britain’s comedy game show QI LIVE is touring Australian, stopping in Melbourne, Perth and Brisbane. Hosts Stephen Fry and Alan Davies will present QI LIVE with Australian celebrity panellists.
FUNNY GUYS
It is only been done in a television format, but the BBC’s QI LIVE is choosing to try out its first-ever live performances in Australia.
The show operates with one host and four contestants who answer questions for points, but the responses don’t need to be technically accurate — they just have to be creative. Guests who give standard answers typically lose points. The show format tries to stimulate engaging discussion and some arguing.
The first live show takes place on Oct. 21 in Perth. 612 ABC in Brisbane is hosting a competition for tickets to the live show there between October 10 and 14.
AUSSIE SHOWS LIKE IT
A few Australian quiz shows with a comedic twist follow a slightly similar format to QI LIVE, though they still prefer correct answers over creative ones. Spicks & Specks also has a set cast followed by a revolving panel of outside guests who are mostly actors or musicians.
Talkin’ ‘Bout Your Generation is another game show mixing guests from different age brackets to answer pop culture questions. Word play games, charades and physical challenges are also involved in the game show. RocKwiz centres on music and features five categories with some cheeky conversation and musical performances mixed in.
